The Jiangsu Huaihai Theater Troupe's 70th Anniversary Classic Huaihai Opera Tour 'Autumn Moon' was spectacularly performed in Siyang
In 2026, the Huaihai Theater Troupe in Jiangsu Province will celebrate its 70th anniversary.
For seventy years, the troupe has taken root in the Huaihai region, carrying on the soul-stirring opera style, putting on a large number of beloved plays, and making important contributions to the development of local opera. During the National Day holiday, the troupe kicked off a regional tour of classic traditional plays and held performances for the public, bringing outstanding stage art right to people’s doorsteps. These top-notch shows celebrate the troupe’s 70th anniversary and add a cultural vibe to the holiday.

At 7:00 PM on October 3rd, the tour reached Siyang County Civic Square, and the grand Huaihai opera 'Autumn Moon' was spectacularly performed.
The classic Huaihai opera 'Autumn Moon' is coming to Suyang audiences during this beautiful season of golden autumn and fragrant osmanthus, celebrating the selfless greatness of maternal love. 'Autumn Moon' is one of the star works by the famous Huaihai opera performer Xu Yaling, a representative piece of the China Theater Awards·Plum Blossom Award, and one of the flagship masterpieces of the Jiangsu Huaihai Opera Troupe.

This performance is also part of a youth talent development program, with Xu Yaling performing alongside young actors. It uses the play to engage people and promote practice through performance, helping to pass on the art of Huaihai opera. In this play, the role of Qiu Yue is played by Xu Yaling and her apprentice Ma Jie, while the two dragons are played by Shi Shunan.

This performance is an important part of the series of events marking the 70th anniversary of the Huaihai Troupe in Jiangsu Province. It's also a concrete effort by the troupe to bring culture to the people and serve local communities during the National Day period, giving the people of Siyang a high-quality operatic art feast.

Her name is Qiuyue. Both her parents had passed away, her husband died early, and she lived with her son, relying on small Huaihai theater performances to make a living. Despite her own eyesight gradually failing, she worked desperately to earn money, all to prevent her son's eye disease from spreading. But when she found out that the huge sum she had been working so hard for over the years for her son had been stolen, a series of tragedies began...
